CALL TO ORDER
The meeting was called to order at 6:06 pm, by Jeffrey Robinson,
Chairperson
ROLL CALL
Commissioners: Joel Nunn-Sparks, Jeffrey Robinson, Kyle Saltz, Naima
Chambers Smith, Elouise Sparks, Carly Coburn, Maria Torres Mendoza
(absent)
Others Present: Angela Pashon (staff), Dave Zabell (staff), Lynn Carlson
(facilitator)
APPROVAL OF MINUTES
Commissioner Coburn moved to approve the Minutes of the July 21, 2021
meeting. Commissioner Chambers-Smith seconded. Motion carried
unanimously.
STAFF REPORTS
Due to increased COVID-19 infections rates meetings through the end of 2021
will be held virtually.
Commissioner Chambers-Smith will present Strategic Equity Plan outline and
recommendation to included in biennial adjustment at upcoming Council
meeting.
UNFINISHED BUSINESS
None.

NEW BUSINESS
Workplan Items:
Create portal on the City's website and Facebook page.
• Commissioners Coburn, Nunn-Sparks, and Saltz to form
subcommittee to utilize Facebook to share cultural highlights and
diverse holidays relevant to population demographics of Pasco.
• Commissioner Coburn to create holiday list.
• Staff to follow-up on legal issues related to highlighting private
businesses.
• Commission to be prepared to present to Council on progress by
early December.
Hold Inclusion, Diversity and Equity meetings in the community on a
quarterly basis.
• Commissioner Robinson moved to postpone in-person community
event until 2022, seconded by Nunn-Sparks. Motion carried 5-1
(Saltz-nay).
• Commission selected 11/10/2021 for virtual community meeting,
details to be discussed at September commission meeting.
Improve engagement with the City.
• Moved to September meeting.
MISCELLANEOUS DISCUSSION

There being no further business, the meeting was adjourned at 7:46 pm.
