Meeting thus was informational only and no voting took place. I. Call to order Time: 5:37 pm II. Approval of Previous Meeting Minutes: Did not have enough members to vote. Minutes Approving: August 2, 2018 Motion: Second: Approval Vote: III. Introduction of New ACS Director Zach Ratkai IV. Staff Reports a. Recreation Past Highlights • Adult Volleyball drop-in and leagues have Started • Adult Flag Football started on Sept. 11. We have four divisions and 32 teams and some on waitlist. • Summer After School ended on Aug. 24. Attendance averaged approx. 35-40 per day. 7-11 started to sponsor the program by providing one meal /snack per week and this will continue throughout the regular school year. • First year having a summer an ultimate frisbee league. Four team participated in league play. • Finished Sundown in Tri-Town Concert series on August 29 with a pep Rally with Pasco High Teams in Attendance - Average attendance about 450. • Pool Season ended - Open swim attendance up more than 1600 over last year - even with 4 smoke closure days o Attendance Revenue up more than $15,000 o 450 more Swim lessons taught and $9,000 more in Swim Lesson Revenue Upcoming • Heritage Days at Sacagewea State Park Sept 28-29 • Pasco Schools hosting X-Country Meets at Big Cross - They are borrowing our race timing clock as part of the interlocal agreement. Already received a big thank you. o In the process of expanding parking lot at Big Cross to help with congestion during events like the meets should take place over the next few weeks. • PSD High Schools have begun to use Memorial Pool again for the Girls Swim season. • Not enough teams registered to hold a fall league of SB - instead Putting together a Rootball Tourmament o Family tournament for youth and adults - Keg of Rootbeer for the winning team. • Registration for Lampson CBR has started - 94 already registered - 40th Anniversary of race. Giving out finisher medals to participants. b. Senior Services Highlights • Large Month for Footcare with 113 service appointments • Sewing with Marcy will start next week c. Park Maintenance Highlights Personnel Activity • Attended Monthly Safety Meetings Park & Facility Projects • Completed program with the PSD for student interns • Irrigation at Chiawana Park (west side) still using hand lines • Completed archeological inspection at Wade Park, filled on irrigation hole. • Sprayed lines on football fields with growth regulator • Aerwayed sports fields • Completed fertilizer applications • Uplifted trees on Lewis St • Sprayed fence lines and parking lots • Repaired dock at Chiawana Park Cemetery • 10 Funerals: 7 burials, 3 cremains • $26,516.20 in business for the month • Cut back sod off of roadways using community service group • Sprayed tree wells, planter beads and bare areas with herbicide for weed control Special Events • Assisted Recreation with the Doggie Paddle event • Setup and tear down for Big Cross Grand opening • Assisted PDDA for Fiery Foods Festival • Assisted Recreation with Sundown in Tri-Town • Scout assisted with back spreading at Big Cross for Eagle Scout Project V. Other a. 2018 Joint Park & Recreation Commission Meeting: • It will take place on September 27, 2018 at 5:30pm at the Richland Community Center. It will be catered by Porter’s BBQ. They will need an RSVP from those that will be able to attend. • Brent will send an RSVP email to the Park Board b. Director Updates: Zach Ratkai expressed his thanks for becoming part of the Pasco team and stated that he looks forward to working with the board. VI. City Council Representative Suggestions & Reports a. Said he had received a request for a dog leash sign to be posted at Big Cross. • Dan reported that this has been done. VII. Park Board Member Round Table NOLVIA • Asked about progress on Chapel Hill Park o Dan reported that we should be receiving development site plans by the end of the month and that we will be holding community meetings after that. • Asked about any upcoming volunteer opportunities o Brent reported that the Daddy-Daughter Dance was on October 20, Winterfest December 1, and Lampson Cable Bridge Run December 15 • Asked about the Schlagel Park Grant and the trickle down money o Staff informed her that no money had been received and that the city is now in the process of applying again. • Asked about Dog Parks and the Possibility of getting one o Staff informed the board that a dog park was park of the 2019 CIP and that some of the storm water catch basins could be used. ARTHUR • Asked about the tree inventory o Dan informed the board that the inventory was completed and that we are now doing the inventory in back to back years so that the complete inventory is more accurate and up to date. JASON • Suggested that maybe we skip the October meeting as it will be the week after the Joint Park & Recreation Commission Meeting. o We will ask all board members and make a decision at the time of the Joint Meeting VIII.
