SPECIAL MEETING 4:00 P.M. Sptember 3, 2019
I. 4:00—CALL TO ORDER:

VI. WORKSHOP:
A. Deputy State Historic Preservation Officer Greg Griffith briefed the
commission about the state historic preservation plan update, and provided
links to their planning page (See: https://dahp.wa.gov/preservationplan) and
the Executive Summary of the last Plan (See:

B. Jennifer Wagner from Franklin County Facilities and Franklin County
Historical Society's Dick Scheuerman explained what the County wanted to do
with the FCHS Museum front stairway along North 4th Avenue and asked for
Commission feedback; Staff consulted with Mr. Griffith as to what authority
the Commission had in the case of National Historic Register properties and
confirmed that the Commission's role was purely advisory. Commissioners
were unanimous in their view that as the stair would be completely removed
for the rebuild it would be desirable to replicate the bas relief detail and the
"horse trough," or at least a stylized representiation of these, from the original
stair.
C. Greg Griffith also went over a brief refresher course on the Certified Local
Government (CLG) program, and provided a link the the DAHP solicit
comments or ideas.
