HomeMy WebLinkAboutN-230 - Part-Time EmployeesCITY OF PASCO ADMINISTRATIVE ORDERS Administrative Order No. 230 Personnel Policies & Procedures Subject: Part -Time Employees Initial Effective Date: May 27, 1982 Revised 7/16/86 10/5/09 5/6/10 10/14/18 Approved GC GC GC DZ The following Administrative Order is effective October 14, 2018 and supersedes Administrative Order No. 230 dated 5/6/10, 10/5/09 and Administrative Order No. 36 dated 5/27/82 and 7/16/86. I. PURPOSE: This Administrative Order is issued to provide official definitions of the part time employee classification and to enumerate applicable benefits to non -represented part time employees. II. DEPARTMENTS AFFECTED: All. III. DEFINITIONS: "Regular part time employee" means an employee regularly scheduled to work twenty (20) hours or more per week and more than six (6) months during a given calendar year. This employee will normally work less than the forty (40) hour week. 2. "Irregular part time employee" means an employee scheduled to work less than twenty (20) hours per week and/or less than six (6) months in a calendar year. 3. "Seasonal (part time emplovee) (Facilities)" means an employee scheduled to work less than nine months during a given calendar year. IV. BENEFITS/WAGES: Regular Part Time Employees: • Shall receive pro -rata personal holiday and vacation after the completion of six (6) months of employment. • Shall receive sick leave accrual after the ninety (90) day of employment. • Shall receive pro -rata calendar holiday pay, but only if the holiday falls on one of their regularly scheduled work days. Are eligible to participate in the City's health plan(s), providing that the employee pays the full premium via payroll deduction. Must work a minimum of 1040 hours in order to be eligible for a step increase. (No more than one step increase per calendar year/12-month period.) Must serve a six-month probation period. 2. Irregular Part Time Employees: ■ Shall not receive any paid holiday, vacation, ■ Shall receive sick leave after the ninety (90th) day of employment. ■ Are not entitled to any coverage under the City's health insurance plans. ■ Must work a minimum of 520 hours in order to be eligible for a step increase. (No more than one step increase per calendar year/12-month period.) ■ Life guards may receive no more than one step increase per season within the same classification. 3. Seasonal (Part Time) Employees: • Shall not receive vacation. ■ Shall receive sick leave after the ninety (90th) day of employment. ■ Are not entitled to any coverage under the City's health insurance plans. • Are eligible for holiday pay (calendar holidays). • Are eligible for one personal holiday if employed for six months or more each calendar year. ■ Must work a minimum of six months (1040 hours) to be eligible for a step increase (first two increases). Then must work twelve months (2080 hours) to be eligible for each additional step increase. 4. Retirement: ■ Part time employees (regular, seasonal and irregular) will participate in the State of Washington Retirement System as determined by state law.
