II. Approval of Previous Meeting Minutes: With Corrections: (persons in attendance

III. Staff Reports
a. Senior Center Highlights
i. Wood Carving Classes are going very well. More people are participating
ii. Some issues with patrons parking backwards and causing damage to the
handrail
b. Recreation Highlights
i. Increased participation in the After School program. Average per day is
approximately 20-30 youth. Increase is due to outreach in community, variety of
activities and staff enthusiasm.
ii. Received $2,000 award from Legends Casino for After School program. Money
will be used to purchase children reading materials, arts and crafts supply and
recreation equipment.
iii. Ultimate frisbee (first year program) league with six teams and 82 players. A
summer league may be offered, but will depend on the level of interest.
iv. We are taking registrations for the 4th of July parade and we are at 24
registered. If any Park Board member wants to be in the parade they need to
submit their application by June 27.
• The Grand Old 4th parade was discussed: The parade Grand Marshals
were announced, a Kids parade was discussed, and the parade day was
discussed.
v. Held first Orientation for Lifeguards on May 20
vi. Held Season Pass Memorial Splash event for season pass holders to the pool on
Memorial Day from 1-4pm, Sold $960 worth of season passes after the event we
were at 94 pass holders compared to 4 at the same point last year.
• Robert Garcia: Noted that it appeared to him that families were not
given Pool Pass information at Memorial Pool over Memorial Day
weekend. He suggested that information be made available either
through hard copies, flyers or brochures so that people are aware of
costs associated with the pool.
vii. Held a second Lifeguard Training class because of high demand for first class.
viii. Pool opens on June 9 (open from 4-6pm on school days).
c. Park Maintenance Highlights
i. Personnel Activity
• Attended Monthly Safety Meetings
• Weekend coverage
• Park Rangers hired
• 4 staff members attended WCIA training
ii. Park & Facility Projects
• Memorial Pool open for Chanel Cats
• Painted fields for Bugle Corps
• Assisted with Sandifur Irrigation system
• Removed and replanted trees along Cable Bridge
• Cleaned sidewalks downtown
• Top dresser arrived
• Applied chemicals in beds and along bike path
• Burn tumbleweeds
iii. Cemetery
• 5 Funerals: 4 burials, 1 cremains
• $20,004.80 in services for the month
• Preparing for Memorial Day
• Planted spring stock
iv. Special Events
• Prepared for the Traveling Wall
• Contractor installed play equipment at Chiawana
• Assisted with Cinco de Mayo
• Eagle Scout volunteered to paint life vest logo at Chiawana
• Contractor started the roof project
• Contractor completed the flooring project at the Specialty Kitchen

i. Commented that the swing set at Chiawana Park was very nice.

i. Jobs Nursery is having Free Ice Cream on June 10

i. Suggested that information regarding Memorial Pool be provided
ii. Stated that a link on the www.pascoparksandrec.com website is directing
people to an old brochure
iii. Suggested that the online brochure have links for registration
