needed. Will be planning work days to install the course.
b. Grand Old 4th Update – To address fire chief’s concerns about fallout with the
encroaching new homes, we have changed the fireworks show to include mortars
of only 5 inch and smaller. To help address the concern about the growing
attendance at Wade Park for the fireworks at the river we are planning additional
activities that will take place at or near the stadium. These events include a
softball tournament, a soccer tournament, a car show, water bouncy obstacle
courses, live music, and food trucks.
c. Interim ACS – Informed board that Dan has been appointed as the interim ACS
director as Rick continues to serve as the interim PW director.

VI. Park Board Member Suggestions & Report
a. Roberto Garcia
i. Asked if we offered sessions of the preschool programs that took place
only during the summer months. Brent answered we offered ongoing
sessions throughout the year, some of which take place during the
summer.
ii. Asked if local seniors and others that sign up for the World Discovery
tours received a discount. Brent answered that because the tours are
booked for a group they receive a discount over booking it themselves and
that it saves the participants the hassle of trying to find and book all the
flights, hotels, tours, etc. themselves.
iii. Commented that he likes that we have more things that target the teen
population such as the Red Dot Paintball program and the installation of
the Disc Golf Course.
b. Nolvia Salinas
i. Asked Saul if there were plans for future exits and on ramps to Freeway
182 to help decrease congestion at Rd. 68. Saul answered that yes there
are plans, but that the city is working with WSDOT and he was unsure of
how many years it would be before anything takes place, because of the
length of the process with WSDOT.
