III. Staff Reports
a. Senior Center Highlights
• In the Process of renewing the agreement with Meals on Wheels to provide
meals at the 1st Avenue Center.
• Footcare ends for the year next week, Dec 14
b. Recreation Highlights
• Completed Fall Coed Softball
• Held last couple of SB Tournaments at the Softball Complex in November
• Completed the Fall Flag Football Season
• Twin City Adult Men's Basketball (Full with 32 Teams) will start Dec. 18
• Free basketball clinic on 12/21 at CBC from 10am-12 noon. Currently sixty
one players are signed up.
• Breakfast with Santa
• Winter Fest this weekend on Saturday.
• Food Drive Competition - over 3800 lbs of food.
• Lampson Cable Bridge Run - currently has approximately 1200 registered.
c. Park Maintenance Highlights
Personnel Activity
• Attended Monthly Safety Meetings
• Hired new Groundsman I, Jeff Stahman
Park & Facility Projects
• Replanted 176 trees from the fire blight issue
• Winterized irrigation
• Mulched leaves
• Covered pool
• Winterized splash pads
• Winterized Dust Devils Stadium
• Completed ramp at Chiawana Mini Station
• Pulled all picnic tables for the season
• Pulled swings in for season
• Prepared planter beds for the winter
Cemetery
• 6 Funerals: 4 burials, 2 cremains
• $10,636.00 in services for the month
• Prepared winter beds
• Winterized irrigation
Special Events
• Remodel of City Hall underway
• Completed Station 84
• Contractor installed new sidewalk in at 1st Ave with ADA ramp
• Started PSK project
IV. Other
a. Upcoming Events / Volunteer Reminder
i. *Cocoa & Donuts with Santa, *Pasco Winter Fest, & *The Lampson
Cable Bridge Run. A reminder was given that many of the board members
had committed to volunteer at one or more of the events and asked if there
were any questions. David Milne asked that we send him information
about where volunteers were still needed.
b. Chapel Hill Park – Survey Results
i. Shared results of survey. Notable results:
1. 65% of Respondents plan on being in the neighborhood for 6 or
more years.
2. 79% want an equal mix of trees and open space
3. The 3 top desired features were: Walking Trails, Permanent
Restrooms and Picnic Area w/ BBQ
4. 50% of the respondents said their primary use of the park would be
for Leisure Activities.
5. The 3 top desired playground features were: Swing Sets, Challenge
Courses, and Play Structure
c. Rd 48 Land Purchase
i. Purchase was approved by council, final signing will be later this month.
V. Council & Member Suggestions & Report
a. Nolvia asked about the kids that were punching holes in the pavilion roof with
basketballs
i. Told that it has not happened again but that no one was caught.
