II. Approval of Previous Meeting Minutes:

III. Staff Reports
a. Recreation Highlights
i. Lampson Cable Bridge Run – Went well considering the weather. 1700+
registered, just under 1000 actually participated. Hats off to all involved for
the extra work that they did to prepare the course this year with all the snow.
Feedback about registration switch to Runsignup.com was positive from
participants and from the race timing company. Added benefits available to
participants through Runsignup.com include personalized finisher certificates
and finish line video.
ii. Youth Basketball Program – 480 registered this year (up about 70 over last
year). Stuggling to find all couches needed, but almost there. Growth of
program is a good challenge to have.
iii. Adult Basketball Program – Registration numbers are comparable to last year.
Mens league is already going, Women’s league to start on January 7.
iv. Changing Highland Field Rental Pricing to match Soccer fields and changing
rental supervisor fee to cover hike in minimum wage.
b. Senior Center Highlights
i. All moved out of old building and moved in to 1st Ave building. Good
feedback so far from senior users of the new building.
ii. Footcare program went well in 2016. We were up 110 appointments over
2015 and donations were up $2,000.
c. Park Maintenance Highlights
Personnel Activity
i. Held Staff Safety Training Meeting with City Risk Manager. Reviewed cold
weather safety and fall prevention.
ii. Lots of snow removal on sidewalks and parking lots.
Park & Facility Projects
i. Helped to move out of the old Senior Center and into the new building.
Large focus placed on the improvements needed to gain the occupancy
permit for the new building.
ii. Performed repairs of the scoreboard and the scoreboard protector at the
MLK Center.
Cemetery
i. Over $10,000 in services during the month of December.
Special Events
i. Helped with the Lampson Cable Bridge Run, preparation and day of,
monitoring and cleanup.
IV. Other
a. Aquatic Committee
i. Need 2 Park Board members to serve on the Aquatic Committee.
1. Jason Ruud - nominated by Arthur Job w/ 2nd by Nolvia Salinas
2. Nolvia Salinas – nominated by Reade Obern w/ 2nd by Edmon Daniels
3. Dave Milne – nominated by Edmon Daniels w/ 2nd by Arthur Job
Jason Ruud (6 votes) & Nolvia Salinas (4 votes) were selected by vote.
Dave received 2 votes.
b. Election of 2017 Chairperson
i. The Board voted to table this until the February meeting.
c. Requested board members think about appropriate names for the new Modular
Building.
V. Council Member Suggestions & Report
a. Nolvia Salinas – Suggested sending out a survey for the Cable Bridge Run.
