HomeMy WebLinkAbout09-22-1988 Minutesyn Wells, City Clerk PASSED and APPROVED this2 day o MINUTES PASCO CITY COUNCIL SPECIAL MEETING SEPTEMBER 22, 1988 CALL TO ORDER: The meeting was called to order at 8:00 P.M. by Ed Hendler, Mayor. ROLL CALL: By City Manager. Councilmen present were: Michael Garrison, Ed Hendler, Lee Kraft, E.A. Snider, Joe Jackson and Emerson Morgan. Councilman Beverly Green was absent from the meeting (excused). Also present were: Gary Crutchfield, City Manager. RESOLUTION NO. 1849: A RESOLUTION CALLING FOR A SPECIAL ELECTION TO ALLOW AN INCREASE IN THE UTILITY TAX RATE ON THE PRIVILEGE OF CONDUCTING AN ELECTRICAL ENERGY, NATURAL GAS, STEAM ENERGY OR TELEPHONE BUSINESS TO EIGHT AND ONE-HALF PERCENT (8.5%). Resolution No. 1849 was read by title only. Prior to motion, Mayor Hendler moved to amend Section 1 to read as follows: "Shall the City of Pasco increase the tax on the privilege of conducting an electrical energy, natural gas, steam energy, or telephone business to a rate of eight and one-half percent (8.5%) for anti-crime purposes? Yes or No?" , Seconded by Mr. Snider. Motion carried. Mr. Snider moved to approve Resolution No. 1849, calling for a special election to consider increasing the utility tax to 8.5%. Seconded by Mr. Jackson. Motion carried. ADJOURNMENT: No further business, the special meeting jouxned at 8:02 P.M. Ed Hendler, Mayor 1988.
