HomeMy WebLinkAbout2276 ResolutionCharles D Kilbury, Attest am" 1 ayor RESOLUTION NO. 2276 A RESOLUTION concerning the need to reduce the speed limit on a portion of 1-182 east of Mile Post 12 5 WHEREAS, the City and the Washington State Department of Transportation (WSDOT) both recognize the need for highway safety and appropriate speed limits, and WHEREAS, the merging of traffic from access ramps onto 1-182 is an important consideration in establishing speed limits for safety, and WHEREAS, the safety in merging traffic traveling on 1-182 with traffic using the access ramps from North 4th Avenue, 20th Avenue, and SR-395 is of the highest importance, and WHEREAS, WSDOT, in 1996, increased the speed limit on 1-182 from 55 m p h to 70 m p h , and WHEREAS, the increasing of the speed limit on 1-182 has reduced the safety for vehicles to merge at the access ramps, NOW, THEREFORE, THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF PASCO, WASHINGTON DO RESOLVE AS FOLLOWS 1 The Pasco City Council (Council) recommend to the Washington State Department of Transportation to lower the speed limit on I- 182 between Mile Post 12 5 and Mile Post 14 0 to 55 m p h Passed by the, city Council of the City of Pasco, at a regular meeting this day of 4/c3(/, , 1996 Catherine D Seaman, Deputy City Clerk Approved As To Form Leland B Kerr, City Attorney
