HomeMy WebLinkAbout2267 ResolutionCITY OF PASCO RESOLUTION NO 2267 PASCO SCHOOL DISTRICT RESOLUTION NO 580 A JOINT RESOLUTION declaring certain pohcies for the joint planning, acquisition and development of certain capital facilities WHEREAS, advance planning for and acquisition of neighborhood park and elementary school facilities presents the greatest opportunity to minimize associated costs of such facilities, and WHEREAS, joint siting of neighborhood parks and elementary schools normally presents the greatest opportunity to fulfill those particular capital facihty needs at the least cost to the community, and WHEREAS, joint development and maintenance of neighborhood parks and elementary schools normally presents the greatest opportunity to fulfill neighborhood educational and recreation needs at the least public cost, and WHEREAS, joint school and park facihties will reinforce the role of the neighborhood school as the focal point for neighborhood identity and cohesion, thus strengthening the social fabric of the individual neighborhood and greater community, and WHEREAS, the City of Pasco and the Pasco School District desire to continue and enhance their practice of joint planning, development, and utilization of schools and recreation facilities, NOW, THEREFORE, THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF PASCO, AND THE BOARD OF DIRECTORS OF PASCO SCHOOL DISTRICT NO 1, WASHINGTON, DO RESOLVE AS FOLLOWS. Section 1 The City Council of the City of Pasco and the Board of Directors of the Pasco School District hereby commit to the following pohcies regarding neighborhood park and elementary school facilities a) To the greatest extent practicable, neighborhood park sites should be physically a part of or contiguous to the elementary school in the respective neighborhood b) Normally, the School District will be responsible for maintenance of the joint school/park grounds, in exchange for City participation in acquisition and/or development of the school/park grounds Richard D. &limy Board President Charles D Kilbury Mayor •*.a% .
