HomeMy WebLinkAbout2243 ResolutionCITY 0 PASCO 1,,a4 f Charles D Ktlbury, Mdyor ATTEST Catherine D Seaman, Deputy City Clerk Leland B Kerr City Attorney RESOLUTION NO 2243 A RESOLUTION urging construction of an elementary school in the East Pasco neighborhood WHEREAS, the East Pasco neighborhood has been without a public school since the demolition of Whittier School in 1979, and WHEREAS, being void of a neighborhood elementary school has deprived the neighborhood of the traditional foundation for the social network so essential to a -viable neighborhood, and WHEREAS, the East Pasco neighborhood has burgeoned with growth over the past several years, principally fueled by industrial growth experienced in the greater Pasco area, and WHEREAS, it would appear that an elementary school in East Pasco would indirectly help alleviate the critical problem of overcrowding at Pasco High School, as well as reduce the social and financial costs associated with transporting more than 300 students from East Pasco to other elementary schools throughout the District, NOW, THEREFORE, THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF PASCO, WASHINGTON, DO RESOLVE AS FOLLOWS Section 1 That the Board of Directors of the Pasco School District are hereby urged to include an East Pasco elementary school in any construction bond measure placed before the voters of the Pasco School District Section 2 That the voters of the Pasco School District are hereby encouraged to approve issuance of bonds by the School District to finance construction of an elementary school in the East Pasco neighborhood PASSED by the City Council of the City of Pasco at a of March, 1996 meeting this 25th day
