HomeMy WebLinkAbout2170 ResolutionRESOLUTION NO av-Ac) A RESOLUTION declaring the approval of the negotiated Lease/Option To Purchase of the old Pasco City Hall to Columbia Home Health Services WHEREAS, the City is vacating the old Pasco City Hall (412 W Clark Street) except for the Fire Station, to consolidate municipal offices at the new Pasco Civic Center (525 N Third Avenue), and WHEREAS, it is of significant concern to the City Council that the old City Hall building by remaining vacant, contributes to an atmosphere of disinvestment, or otherwise adversely affect property values in the downtown area, and WHEREAS, a prolonged vacancy of the old City Hall would have an adverse effect on the value of surrounding properties as well as increased maintenance costs to taxpayers resulting from potential vandalism, and WHEREAS, it is most beneficial to the Pasco taxpayer to sell the old City Hall or to lease the facility until a purchase can be consummated, thereby avoiding liabilities associated with long-term maintenance responsibilities of the building, as well as placing the property on the tax roll, and WHEREAS, Columbia Home Health Services has indicated a desire to enter into an immediate lease of the premises with an option to purchase during the term of the lease, and WHEREAS, Columbia Home Health Services would provide a significant contribution to the ongoing re-development of the downtown area of Pasco by the location of its business offices at the old Pasco City Hall, and WHEREAS, an estimate of the value of the old City Hall premises has been obtained from a qualified commercial real estate broker and the option price is reasonably consistent with the estimate of value, now, therefore, THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF PASCO, WASHINGTON DO RESOLVE AS FOLLOWS: 1. The Pasco City Council declares its approval of the negotiated lease- purchase option with Mid-Columbia Home Health Services for the old Pasco City Hall building (412 W Clark Street) less the Fire Station wing, a copy of which is attached hereto and incorporated herein by this reference The 0 Resolution No. all 0 Pa g e 1 of 2 Gre Rubstello City orney negotiated price is consistent with current value and the desire of the Council to maintain occupancy of the building by an occupant having a positive impact on the downtown area and the community as a whole 2.
