A RESOLUTION declaring the objection of the Pasco City Council to
S.B 868 of the 103rd Congress 1st Session to amend the Internal Revenue
Code of 1986 to increase the tax on handguns and assault weapons, to
increase the license application fee for gun dealers, and to use the
proceeds from those increases to pay for medical care for gunshot victims.
WHEREAS, the Pasco City Council believes that proposed S B 868 of
the 103rd Congress 1st Session unfairly singles out the responsible sellers and
owners of firearms to finance the health care for the victims of the
irresponsible ownership, possession or selling of firearms, and
WHEREAS, the proposed taxes are an outrageous burden to place upon
responsible firearms businesses and the possessors of firearms, and will
significantly impact the ability of the small local firearms' dealers to make a
living and remain in the firearms business, Now, Therefore,
The City Council of the City of Pasco, Washington, Does Resolve as
Follows:
The Pasco City Council declares is objection to S B 868, 103rd
Congress 1st Session, to amend the Internal Revenue Code of 1986 to increase the
tax on handguns and assault weapons, to increase the license application fee for
gun dealers, and to use the proceeds from those increases to pay for medical care
for gunshot victims, and urges the defeat or withdraw of the legislation
§2. A copy of this Resolution shall be sent to the bill sponsors
Mrs Murray, Mr Simon, Mr Kerry, Ms Moseley-Braun, and Mr Matthews, and to
the members of the Washington State Congressional delegation
Passed by the City Council of the City of Pasco, at its regular meeting
this 7th day of June, 1993
