RESOLUTION NO. a0 z3
A RESOLUTION declaring the support of the Pasco City Council for
Initiative 593, an initiative directed at helping to keep dangerous
criminals off the streets and out of the neighborhoods of our State's
communities
WHEREAS, the City of Pasco, like many communities in the State of
Washington, is suffering from the consequences of violent crumnal activity by
persons who have a history of violent cnmmal activity, and
WHEREAS, the City Council believes that law abiding citizens that
make their home in this commumty should feel secure in their person and their
property, and not be subject to the threat of violent crime against their person
and/or their property by those repeat cnmmal offenders who serve their time in
pnson and jails only to reoffend again, and
WHEREAS, the Pasco City Council believes that the purpose of
Initiative 593, that is, to see that persons who are convicted of the "most
senous offenses" on three occasions be sentenced to life in pnson without
parole is a sound and reasonable approach to restoring safety and well-being in
our community, Now, Therefore,
THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF PASCO, WASHINGTON, DOES
RESOLVE AS FOLLOWS:
The Pasco City Council declares its support of Initiative 593, the
proposed ballot measure entitled, "Shall criminals who are
convicted of 'more senous offenses' on three occasions be
sentenced to life impnsonment without parole 9 "
The Pasco City Council encourages the citizens of Pasco and the
surrounding commuruties m the State of Washington to sign their
names to the petitions circulating to place Initiative 593 on the
November 1993 General Election Ballot
