HomeMy WebLinkAbout1961 ResolutionRESOLUTION NO 1961 A RESOLUTION permitting under certain conditions the Washington State Railroad Historical Society to have access to steam locomotive #1354 at Volunteer Park for purposes of inspection, testing, cleaning, maintenance and restoration WHEREAS, Steam Locomotive #1354 is on display to the public at Volunteer Park and is owned by the City of Pasco; and WHEREAS, the Washington State Railroad Historical Society, a not for profit corporation organized in part to restore and operate historical railway equipment desires to inspect and test the locomotive for purposes of discovering the feasibility of restoring the locomotive to operating condition and further desires to clean and maintain the locomotive while on display at Volunteer Park, and WHEREAS, the City Council supports the Washington State Railroad Historical Society and their goals to bring a railroad museum to the City of Pasco and to study the feasibility of restoring locomotive #1354 to operating condition, NOW, THEREFORE, THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF PASCO, WASHINGTON, DO RESOLVE AS FOLLOWS: Section 1. The Washington State Railroad's Historical Society is hereby permitted to have access to steam locomotive #1354 on display at Volunteer Park for the purposes of determining the feasibility of restoring it to operating condition, and further to clean and maintain the locomotive, upon the conditions set forth below. Section 2. The City understands that in order to determine the viability of restoring the locomotive to operating condition that some disassembly of the locomotive and its component parts will be required The Society shall restore the locomotive to the condition in which they found it after any disassembly and inspection, unless changes are authorized by the City Council Section 3. The Society, its officers, directors, agents, employees, representatives and members shall hold the City harmless for any damages or injuries they may sustain due to ATTEST- APP GRE VED AS TO FO . Any restoration efforts by the Society shall first receive the approval of the City Council. Section 5. The Society shall provide regular cleaning and maintenance of the locomotive during the life of the permit granted by this Resolution. Section 6. The permission and permit granted herein shall continue until this Resolution is otherwise modified or repealed by the City Council.
