HomeMy WebLinkAbout1910 ResolutionRESOLUTION NO. 1910 A RESOLUTION supporting legislation that would prohibit convicted felons from carrying concealed weapons. WHEREAS, Washington State law allows persons who have been convicted of certain felony offenses to obtain a license to carry a concealed weapon, and WHEREAS, Washington State law allows persons who have been convicted of unlawfully displaying a firearm in a manner that manifests intent to intimidate another or that warrants alarm for the safety of other persons, to obtain a license to carry a concealed weapon, and WHEREAS, Washington State law preempts cities, towns and counties from enacting any law or ordinance relating to firearms that is more restrictive than state law, and WHEREAS, the safety of citizens and law enforcement officials alike is of paramount concern; NOW THEREFORE, THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF PASCO, WASHINGTON, DO RESOLVE AS FOLLOWS: Section 1. The City of Pasco supports legislation that would prohibit the issuance of a license to carry a concealed weapon to a person who has been convicted of any felony offense or who has been convicted of unlawful display of a firearm.
