HomeMy WebLinkAbout1901 ResolutionWELLS, City Clerk RESOLUTION NO 1901 WHEREAS, the greater Pasco community has been experiencing significant growth in drug-related crimes over the past several years, and WHEREAS, the Pasco voters imposed upon themselves an additional utility tax, the proceeds from which are earmarked for the addition of six (6) Police Officers and associated crime-related costs, and WHEREAS, the city intends to hire a Crime Prevention/Community Relations Officer in January 1990 to aid the community in establishing improved neighborhood security, and WHEREAS, the Pasco/Franklin County Housing Authority intends to apply for Housing and Urban Development (HUD) funding to reduce the incidence of drug use and drug-related criminal activities within the Housing Authority grounds, and WHEREAS, such an effort on the part of the Pasco/Franklin County Housing Authority to neighten its activities in the fight against drugs and drug-related activities is a necessary and appropriate effort and will improve the effect that the city Police Department and Drug Task Force can have on drug-related crime within the greater Pasco community, NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED BY THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF PASCO That the City Council of the City of Pasco does hereby urge the U S Department of Housing and Urban Development to favorably consider the application of the Pasco/Franklin County Housing Authority for special grant funds to be used toward the reduction of drug-related criminal activities within the Housing Authority grounds as well as to work closely with the Pasco Police Department to reduce the incidence of drug- related crimes in the Pasco community PASSED by the City Council of the City of Pasco this 4 day o f December , 1989 ATT T APPROVED AS TO FORM 212 GREG A UBS ELLO, City Attorney
