HomeMy WebLinkAbout1895 ResolutionRESOLUTION NO 1895 A RESOLUTION endorsing a uniform food permit fee schedule throughout the Benton Franklin Health District - service area WHEREAS, food establishments throughout the Benton and Franklin counties area are inspected at least twice annually by the Benton Franklin Health District to assure such facilities handle, prepare and store foods properly and avoid health risk to patrons of the food establishments, and WHEREAS, the Health Department performs the food permit inspections and related functions at no direct cost to the food establishment but, rather, is compensated through the assessments paid by member jurisdictions of the Health District, and WHEREAS, the member jurisdiction assessments are based principally on assessed valuation and population and bear no direct relation to the number of food permit establishments requiring service from the Health District, thus resulting in an indirect subsidy to those establishments which are not required to pay a standard fee, and WHEREAS, the apparent inequity surrounding food permit services and fees can be resolved by the adoption of a uniform food permit fee schedule throughout the Health District service area and, ultimately, the collection of such fees by the Health District, thus resulting in an equitable reduction of the member jurisdiction assessments, NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED BY THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF PASCO That the Pasco City Council hereby endorses the recommendation of the Benton Franklin Health District that all jurisdictions within the District service area adopt a uniform food permit fee schedule and, further, hereby urges its fellow City Councils and Boards of Commissioners to so act SED by the City Council of the City of Pasco this 6 day o , 1989 - ED HENDLER, Mayor ATTEST -4.-t-i---‘j EVEL N WELLS, City Clerk APPROVED AS TO FORM 'S G eA RUBSTELLO, City Attorney
