HomeMy WebLinkAbout1841 ResolutionAPPROVED AS TO FO Greg R bstello, City Attorney RESOLUTION No. 1841 A RESOLUTION establishing a City/Council policy concerning the painting of crosswalks. WHEREAS, upon consideration of limited available City revenues and the amount of time and cost required to maintain the painted crosswalks within the City; and WHEREAS, upon further consideration of the legal requirements for painted crosswalks and the recommendations of the Public Works Director that many of the painted crosswalks within the City are not justified by site conditions, motor vehicle traffic, or other considerations warranting the use of painted crosswalks, the City Council has determined to establish a policy to direct the City Staff to eliminate the painting of crosswalks where the sidewalk on an arterial street and side street is immediately adjacent to the curb or where there is no sidewalk on the streets at all, NOW, THEREFORE, THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF PASCO, WASHINGTON DO RESOLVE AS FOLLOWS: Section 1. Unless the site has specific conditions as determined by the City Engineer to justify or warrant the presence of a painted crosswalk , crosswalks shall not be painted across side streets where they intersect with arterial streets where the sidewalk on the arterial street and side street is immediately adjacent to the curb or where there is no sidewalk on the streets at all. Section 2. All present crosswalks in the City not required herein to be painted shall be eliminated by erosion over time and not be re-painted.
