DATE: JUNE 30, 1988
MEMORANDUM TO: JIM AJAX, DIRECTOR OF PUBLIC WORKS
FROM: DENNIS WRIGHT, CITY ENGINEER
SUBJECT: ENGINEERS REPORT ACCEPTING THE 18TH AVENUE WATERLINE
PROJECT NO. 88-9-00
Council authorized the call for bids on March 21, 1988
Bids were opened on April 27, 1988
Council awarded the contract on May 2, 1988
Award was made to Ray Poland and Sons, Inc. in the amount of
$ 16,434.22.
Notice to proceed was issued on May 24, 1988
The first working day charged to the project was May 23, 1988 and
work was substantially completed on June 23, 1988 with 2 working
days left on the contract.
There were 2 change orders issued for this project increasing the
contract amount by $32,256.77 dollars. One change order for
approximately $3000 was to repair a damaged storm drain
discovered during construction. The majority of the increase was
for a change order to extend the waterline to 20th Avenue,
thereby looping the system to provide better fire protection to
the area.
The final contract cost was $48,690.99.
The project was completed substantially in conformance with the
project specifications and I recommend the project be accepted.
