HomeMy WebLinkAbout1812 ResolutionRESOLUTION NO. 1812 A RESOLUTION of the Pasco City Council supporting the Tr-Cities bid for the 1989 Washington Centennial Games and committing financial support therefor. WHEREAS, the people of Pasco and the Tr-Cities area in general support enthusiastically the proposal for the holding of the 1989 Washington Centennial Games within the Tr-Cities; and WHEREAS, the Tr-Cities has ample facilities, including Edgar Brown Memorial Stadium in Pasco, to accommodate the athletic events proposed for the games; and WHEREAS, Pasco and the Tr-Cities will be benefitted financially by the holding of such games in the Tr-Cities area by the presence of the athletes, their supporters, families, guests and other game participants and spectators; Now, Therefore, THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF PASCO, WASHINGTON DO RESOLVE AS FOLLOWS: 1. The Pasco City Council declares its enthusiastic support for the proposal for the holding of the 1989 Washington Centennial Games in Pasco and the Tr-Cities community. 2. The Pasco City Council commits up to Fifteen Thousand Dollars ($15,000.00) from its Hotel/Motel Tax Fund to pay for those costs of the games which are eligible costs under State Law for payment or reimbursement from the Hotel/Motel Tax Fund. 3. The Mayor is authorized to sign a joint letter to be signed by the Mayors of Pasco, Kennewick and Richland inviting the 1989 Washangton—Centennial_Games to be held in the Tr-Cities, which letter shall accompany the area's bid proposal for the 1989 Washington Centennial Games.
