RESOLUTION NO 1801
A RESOLUTION in support of a branch campus of Washington State
University at the Tri-City University Center and
Columbia Basin College
WHEREAS, the Tr-Cities area has a definite need for expanded
higher education offerings in order to better serve the educational needs
of the citizens of this area, and
WHEREAS, Washington State University has a national reputation
for excellence in research and higher education and a distinguished history
of providing higher education to the citizens of Washington State, and
WHEREAS, the establishment of a branch campus of Washington State
University, in addition to the present educational offerings at Tr-City
University Center and Columbia Basin College, will enhance the environment
in the Tr-Cities enabling it to attract new business and industry, and
WHEREAS, the Higher Education Coordinating Board has recommended
the establishment of a branch campus of Washington State University
in the Tr-Cities, NOW, THEREFORE,
BE IT RESOLVED BY THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF PASCO
That the City of Pasco states unequivocally that it strongly supports
the Higher Education Coordinating Board's recommendation to establish
and fund a branch campus of Washington State University in the Tr-Cities
and respectfully urges the Legislature to adopt this recommendation
BE IT FURTHER RESOLVED, that copies of this resolution be immediately
transmitted to the Governor's Office, the Chair of the Higher Education
Committee of the House of Representatives, the Chair of the Senate Education
Committee, and the President of Washington State University
PASSED by the City Council of the City of Pasco this c›? day
of November, 1987
