RESOLUTION NO. 1788
A RESOLUTION of the Pasco City Council requesting that the
Washington State Department of Transportation designate
1-182 between Pasco and Richland as a rural freeway and
posted with a 65 mph speed limit.
WHEREAS, 1-182 between Pasco and Richland, Washington is
an isolated Interstate Highway used mostly by commuters going to
and from work and does not have excessive traffic loads; and
WHEREAS, the posting of a 55 mph speed limit on this
section of Interstate Highway unnecessarily burdens the traffic
flow and causes confusion to drivers travelling on Interstate 82
who use 1-182 as to where the 55 mph speed limit applies, NOW,
THEREFORE,
THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF PASCO, WASHINGTON DO
RESOLVE AS FOLLOWS:
1. The Washington State Department of Transportation is
requested to designate 1-182 between Pasco and Richland,
Washington as a rural Interstate Highway and post it with the 65
mph speed limit.
2. The Pasco City Clerk shall forward a copy of this
Resolution to Duane Berentson, Secretary, Washington State
Department of Transportation and to local state legislators.
