A RESOLUTION of the City of Pasco urging support for the restart
of N-Reactor following a full safety review by the
National Academy of Sciences
WHEREAS, the N-Reactor has been serving the United States in
a safe and reliable manner for 24 years, and
WHEREAS, placing the N-Reactor in a standby status, as proposed
by the Senate Armed Services and Appropriations Committees, will seriously
jeopardize the national security of the United States in that the Soviet
Union continues to operate 22 weapons grade plutonium producing reactors
with seven more such reactors under construction, and
WHEREAS, the unilateral abandonment of this safe and reliable dual-
purpose production reactor could ultimately displace 20,000 talented,
professional men and women who now provide the skilled services that
are so necessary to national security, NOW, THEREFORE,
