HomeMy WebLinkAbout1767 ResolutionRESOLUTION NO. 1767 A RESOLUTION in Support of the Walla Walla Veterans Administration Medical Center Remaining Open as a Full-Service Medical Facility. WHEREAS, the Veterans Administration is considering a drastic change of operation for the Walla Walla Medical Center, which would modify the Medical Center to an outpatient facility only; and WHEREAS, the Walla Walla facility service area includes parts of three states and serves an estimated 74,000 veterans, including 53,000 in southeastern Washington alone; and WHEREAS, the Medical Center has an operating budget of $13 million, and employs over 300 people; and WHEREAS, in addition to the direct impact to the economy through loss of jobs, the loss of an outstanding local medical facility to area veterans would be a hardship to southeastern Washington veterans; NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED BY THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF PASCO, WASHINGTON, that the Veterans Administration and the Veterans Affairs Committee of the United States Senate and the United States House of Representatives are urged to give careful consideration to allowing the Walla Walla Veterans Medical Center to remain open as a full-service medical facility. ATT ST: APP OVED AS TO FORM: ELLS, City Clerk GREG ARUBSTELLO, City Attorney • • In — ^ r BLton Co Res No 8 ,F; tt.09 Franklin Co Res No Ire'Pe) JOINT RESOLUTION BEFORE THE BOARD OF COMMISSIONERS OF BENTON COUNTY, WASHINGTON AND THE BOARD OF COMMISSIONERS OF FRANKLIN COUNTY, WASHINGTON: IN THE MATTER OF THE JOINT RESOLUTION ESTABLISHING AN OFFICIAL BI- COUNTY CENTENNIAL COMMITTEE OF BENTON AND FRANKLIN COUNTIES WHEREAS, on November 11, 1989, the State of Washington will celebrate the one hundredth anniversary of its admission to the United States of America and the adoption of the Washington state constitution, and, WHEREAS, it is in the interest of the residents of Benton and Franklin Counties that the respective Boards of County Commissioners establish a means whereby Benton and Franklin Counties' residents may participate in the celebration, NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED that the 1989 Washington Centennial Committee of Benton and Franklin Counties is hereby established and shall be composed of one representa- tive from each of the respective Boards of Commissioners or their designees and one representative or designee from each incorporated city or town within Benton and Franklin Counties .
