Kraft Mayor Pro-Tern RESOLUTION NO. 1744 A RESOLUTION of the City of Pasco supporting the investigation of N-Reactor operations by the Department of Energy, the National Academy of Sciences and the National Academy of Engineering; and supporting continued operation of the N-Reactor. WHEREAS, the City Council of the City of Pasco, Washington has an on-going interest in assuring that all activities on the Hanford Reservation are conducted in a safe and environmentally sound manner; and WHEREAS, the residents of the City of Pasco, Washington have an immediate and direct personal interest in the health and safety aspect of activities on the Hanford site, NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED BY THE CITY OF PASCO, ACTING BY AND THROUGH ITS CITY COUNCIL, AS FOLLOWS: Section 1. The City of Pasco, Washington supports the investigation of N-Reactor operations being conducted by the Secretary of Energy, and agrees that the National Academy of Sciences and the National Academy of Engineering are the proper organizations to conduct independent studies of the Hanford activities. Section 2. The City of Pasco supports the continued operation of the N-Reactor pending the results of such investigation unless, and until, the investigation reveals a hazard or defect relating to the safety of the reactor operation. Section 3. A copy of this Resolution shall be forwarded to the Honorable Ronald Reagan, President of the United States of America and to the members of this State's Congressional delegation. PASSED by the City Council of the City of Pasco, Washington at its regular meeting on the 21st day of July, 1986 and approved by the Mayor.
