HomeMy WebLinkAbout1583 ResolutionRESOLUTION NO. 1583 A RESOLUTION amending Resolution No. 1214 and establishing a council policy for attendance at meetings of various city boards, commissions and other agencies of the city and the procedure for tne removal therefrom. WHEREAS, on December 4, 1978 the City passed Resolution No. 1214, which resolution established a policy and regulations for attendance at meetings of various city boards, commissions and other advisory agencies, and WHEREAS, since said time the city council has realized a need to require more restrictive attendance requirements of the members of such boards, commissions and other advisory agencies of the city and to further set forth a policy regarding the removal of the members of such boards, commissions and other city advisory agencies; NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED BY THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF PASCO, WASHINGTON, AS FOLLOWS: Section 1. That any person appointed by the City Council of the City of Pasco to any board, commission, or other admin-- istrative, regulatory, or advisory agency, shall not be absent from three or more consecutive regularly scheduled meetings except as provided below: a. The person is aware of a reason that makes atten- dance at a meeting or meetings difficult or a hardship, explains the reasons to the other members, and seeks and obtains approval of majority of other members at the meeting to be excused from the meeting or meet Lngs. b. An unant]cipated event makes attendance at a meeting difficult or a hardship, the member attends the next meeting he or she is able to attend, and the member gives the reason for the absence and his excuse for the absence by a majority of the other members at the meeting. Section 2. In the event a member has three or more unexcused absences from regularly scheduled meetings as provided in Section One above or in the event a member is absent from 25% or more of the meetings of any such board, commission or other agency in any one calendar year, said member may be required by the City Council or the Mayor to provide reasons for his or her absence, and the City Council and/or Mayor may consider such absences as cause for removal from the position to which the person was appointed. In the event that the City Council by one vote greater than a majority or by majority vote on the recommendation of the Mayor, determines that there is cause for the removal of any member of a city board, commission, or other advisory agency, such person shall be removed from the position to which the person was appointed.
