Re: Proposed Moth-Balling of WPPSS Nuclear Plant No. 1
Dear Mr. Johnson:
Last night at its regular council meeting, the Pasco City Council
unanimously passed Resolution No 1508 wherein the Pasco City
Council went on record as fully and unanimously opposing the moth-
balling of the Washington Public Power Supply Nuclear Plant No. 1.
I have enclosed a copy of this resolution with this letter for your
review. The immediate rate savings that the moth-balling of the
WPPSS Nuclear Plant No. 1 will generate must be balanced against
the likelihood of the rate increases that will occur when the con-
struction of the nuclear plant is eventually completed should moth-
balling occur and the immediate impact on the economy not only of
the Tr-Cities but of the State of Washington by the moth-balling
of the nuclear plant. When such a balancing takes place the imme-
diate moth-balling of the WPPSS Nuclear Plant No. 1 does not balance
out in favor of the public interest. That is why the Pasco City
Council has requested your reconsideration of the proposed moth-
balling of the WPPSS Nuclear Plant No 1
Your attention to the resolution and consideration of the request
made therein will be sincerely appreciated.
Ver trul ours,
I'
E. A. Snider, Mayor
