HomeMy WebLinkAbout1496 ResolutionRESOLUTION NO 1496 A RESOLUTION of the City Council of Pasco confirming certain appointments to the "Centennial 84" Committee WHEREAS, the legacy of history is a treasure to be valued, and WHEREAS, the founding of Pasco occurred in 1884 when the Northern Pacific Railroad moved its operation from Ainsworth to the newly-founded settlement called Pasco; and WHEREAS, the centennial of this founding will occur in 1984, signifying 100 years of growth and development; and WHEREAS, this centennial is an event worthy of celebration, NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED BY THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF PASCO- Section 1. A committee to plan for the marshalling of community resources to properly celebrate this centennial event is necessary and desirable. Section 2. Such a committee must be representative of all of Pasco and, for this purpose, the Board of Directors of the Greater Pasco Chamber of Commerce has submitted a slate of candidates that represents a cross section of Pasco and recommends that the Council officially appoint this slate as the Centennial '84 Committee. Section 3 The following citizens are appointed to the aforesaid committee on an ad hoc basis to plan, promote and coordinate a centennial program- Name - R. Ji --,s,Repre sentinq_ _ 1. The committee shall involve as many other citizens in the planning and coordinating process as can be encouraged, because the success of the centennial celebration will depend largely on the degree of community involvement in the event. Section 5. The committee shall be known as the "Centennial '84 Committee"; shall select its own officers; and shall make periodic progress reports to the City Council and, through the media, to the people of Pasco. Section 6 The committee shall serve a term of office extending to December 31, 1984. PASSED by the City Council of the City of Pasco this March , 1982. 1 day of APPROVED AS TO FORM.
