A RESOLUTION of the City of Pasco providing for expenditure of
$3,096.00 out of the Contingency Fund for financing a
proportionate share of the cost of monitoring and legal
expenses associated with Construction Impact Group
activities related to the Puget Sound Power and Light
Nuclear Projects
WHEREAS, the Construction Impact Group has been formed for
the purpose of representing member jurisdictions affected by the construction
of nuclear generating facilities on the Hanford Reservation; and
WHEREAS, the City of Pasco is a member of the Construction Impact
Group; and
WHEREAS, the Construction Impact Group has funded a Fiscal Impact
Analysis for the purpose of demonstrating the impact on member jurisdictions
that will result from the construction of nuclear generating facilities on the
Hanford Reservation by Puget Sound Power and Light; and
WHEREAS, a licensing proceeding has been commenced wherein Puget
Sound Power and Light has made application to the Energy Facility Site
Evaluation Council for a license to site nuclear generating facilities such as
will cause a fiscal impact on member jurisdictions; and
WHEREAS, it is necessary to monitor the Energy Facility Site Evaluation
Council proceedings in order to make certain that the interests of member
jurisdictions are adequately protected; and
WHEREAS, full protection of the interests of member jurisdictions will
require formal intervention, necessitating representation by legal counsel,
NOW, THEREFORE,
BE IT RESOLVED BY THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF PASCO as follows•
Section 1. The City of Pasco will fund its proportionate share of the cost
of legal services and monitoring associated with the Energy Facility Site
Evaluation Council licensing procedure involving the Puget Sound Power and
Light application to site two nuclear generating facilities in an amount not to
exceed $3,096.00.
Section 2 These funds shall come from the Contingency Fund and will be
appropriated for the purpose herein noted by a supplemental budget.
Section 3. This resolution shall take effect immediately.
