HomeMy WebLinkAbout1364 ResolutionAtt Wells, City Clerk CHET BAILIE, Mayor CITY OF PASCO RESOLUTION NO. 1364 A JOINT RESOLUTION OF THE CITIES OF PASCO AND KENNEWICK PLACING BEFORE THE VOTERS AN ADVISORY PROPOSITION CONCERNING THE OLD PASCO-KENNEWICK INTERCITY BRIDGE WHEREAS, the City Council of the City of Pasco and the City of Kennewick by joint Resolution Nos. 1247 and 79-26 declared the old Pasco-Kennewick Intercity Bridge to be a public nuisance and called for its demolition, and WHEREAS, certain citizens have indicated that the public would rather retain the old bridge and put it to some other purpose, but it appears that the cost of continually maintaining that structure will be an expensive burden upon the public treasury of the Cities of Pasco and Kennewick, and WHEREAS, the City Council of the City of Pasco and the City of Kennewick have explored other alternatives for the use of the old bridge but have found no effective alternatives to demolition; and WHEREAS, it is the desire of the City Councils of the Cities of Pasco and Kennewick to solicit the opinion of those citizens who will ultimately bear the cost of either demolition or retention of the said structure; NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED BY THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF PASCO AND THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF KENNEWICK that an advisory ballot proposition shall be submitted to the voters of the City of Pasco and the City of Kennewick at the primary election to be held on September 16, 1980, which ballot proposition shall read as follows "SHALL THE OLD PASCO-KENNEWICK BRIDGE BE DEMOLISHED'?" FOR DEMOLITION FOR RETENTION The City Clerk of the City of Pasco and the City of Kennewick shall certify this joint resolution to the Benton and Franklin County Auditors, respectively, for placing on the 1980 primary ballot and take all other necessary steps to place said proposition before the voters in accord with law. of SSED by the City Council of the City of Pasco this , 1980. ip Approved as to F rm.
