AN ORDINANCE renaming and naming certain streets in the vicinity of the Lewis Street/SR 12 Interchange WHEREAS, the identification of streets plays an important function in maintaining the safety and welfare of the public, and, WHEREAS, street names are the principal means for the public to reference and locate properties in the city, NOW, THEREFORE, THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF PASCO, WASHINGTON DO ORDAIN AS FOLLOWS: Section 1. That portion of Dietrich Road in the City lying between the Lewis Street Interchange on the north and the Old Kahlotus Highway on the south, as depicted in Exhibit "1" attached hereto, shall henceforth be known and referred to as Commercial Avenue Section 2. That East Lewis Street lying between SR 12 on the east and the new approach to the Lewis Street/SR 12 Interchange on the west together with Lewis Place, as depicted in Exhibit "1" attached hereto, shall henceforth be known and referred to as East Lewis Place Section 3. That the unnamed segment of street lying between East Lewis Street and the Lewis Street/SR 12 Interchange, as depicted in Exhibit "1" attached hereto, shall henceforth be known and referred to as East Lewis Street Section 4. OTHER BUSINESS: A STREET NAMES Renaming a portion of East Lewis and Dietrich Road (MF # 97-764) 1 Staff explained that an owner of a business on Dietrich Road recently approach staff about the confusion that has been created with street names as a result of the new Lewis Street Interchange The new interchange created two eastern legs for Lewis Street and eliminated part of Dietrich Road to eliminate any confusion and enhance public safety there is a need possibly change some of the Street names in the area of the new interchange Staff further explained that it may be appropriate to name the old segment of Lewis Street Lewis Place and the portion of Dietrich Road between the interchange and the Old Kahlotus Highway Commercial Ave Following little discussion on the merits of the proposed names Commissioner Crawford moved seconded by Commission Selby to recommend the old portion of East Lewis Street be named East Lewis Place and that the portion of Dietrich Road in question be renamed to Commercial Ave The vote was unanimous There being no further business to come before the Planning Commission, Commissioner Chamberlain moved, seconded by Commissioner Selby that the meeting be adjourned The meeting was adjourned at 9 05 p m 2 eX44 BOX 2608 PASCO, WASHINGTON 99302 2608 PHONE (509) 582 1500 LE AL AD ERTISINO INVOICE DATE ( Ci247 .J LEGAL NOtt 14 .744 ACCOUNT NO ,o 550 DESCRIPTION #14 ,34 OR n I NI -NC F NO .
