HomeMy WebLinkAbout3240 OrdinanceORDINANCE Noa h-JO AN ORDINANCE concerning voting districts by amending Council District boundaries WHEREAS, Chapter 1 10 of the Pasco Municipal Code (PMC) provides that the city be divided into five voting districts, each district containing an approximately equal number of registered voters, for the purpose of assuring City Council representation throughout the city, and WHEREAS, the number of registered voters within current precincts and Council Districts has significantly changed due to substantial residential development in certain areas of the community and as a result of several annexations, and WHEREAS, the City Council has reviewed the precinct boundaries as re-aligned by the Franklin County Auditor and has determined it necessary and appropriate to revise the boundaries of City Council districts so as to have an approximately equal number of registered voters in each Council district, NOW, THEREFORE, THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF PASCO, WASHINGTON, DOES ORDAIN AS FOLLOWS: Section 1. Section 1 10 020 of the Pasco Municipal Code is hereby amended (additions in text are indicated by underlining and deletions in text are shown by interhneation), as follows 1 10 020 DISTRICT ONE Voting district one shall encompass the area within the City of Pasco comprised of precinct numbers one, two, three, five, &evert, eight, nine, seventeen, end nineteen, and twenty, as those precincts are described on the maps and property descriptions on file with the auditor of Franklin County Section 2 Section 1 10 030 of the Pasco Mumcipal Code is hereby amended (additions in text are indicated by underlining and deletions in text are shown by interlineation), as follows 1 10 030 DISTRICT TWO Voting district two shall encompass the area comprised of precinct numbers six, seven, eleven, fourteen, tweht-y-ahie, thirty, thirty-one, and thirty-three, as those precincts are described by the maps and property descriptions on file with the auditor of Franklin County Section 3 Section 1 10 040 of the Pasco Municipal Code is hereby amended (additions in text are indicated by underlining and deletions in text are shown by interhneation), as follows 1.10.040 DISTRICT THREE Voting district three shall encompass the area comprised of precinct numbers, eight, twelve, thirteen, fifteen, sixteen, eighteen, twenty- two, twenty-four, twenty-five, find twenty-seven, and twenty-nine, as those precincts are described on the maps and property descriptions on file with the auditor of Franklin County C arles D Kilbury, May ATTEST II onyx/ _ Section 4 Section 1 10 050 of the Pasco Murucipal Code is hereby amended (additions in text are indicated by underlining and deletions in text are shown by interhneation), as follows 1 10 050 DISTRICT FOUR.
