AN ORDINANCE increasing the monthly compensation paid the Mayor and City Councilmembers, and amending Section 2 16 010 of the Pasco Municipal Code WHEREAS, the City Council has determined that the compensation paid to the Mayor and other City Councilmembers should be increased and automatically adjusted thereafter, Now, Therefore, THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF PASCO, WASHINGTON, DOES ORDAIN AS FOLLOWS. Section 1 Section 2 16 010 of the Pasco Municipal Code is hereby amended as shown by the deletions made by interlineation and additions shown by underlining as follows 2.16.010 COMPENSATION OF MAYOR AND COUNCILMEN. (1) The councilmember elected by the City Council to serve as Mayor shall receive a salary of $650 $900 per month, which amount shall include the salary paid to him as City Councilmember (2) Each Councilmember shall receive a salary of $450- $700 per month (3) Commencing January 1, 1999, the compensation paid the Mayor and Councilmembers shall be automatically adjusted by an amount equivalent to ninety percent (90%) of the CPI-W, West Coast Class C Cities Index, for the year immediately preceding and ending in October 1998 On January 1 of each succeeding year, the compensation paid the Mayor and Councilmembers shall be automatically adjusted on the same basis (4) These amended salaries shall not become effective until the expiration of the term now being served by any incumbent, nor shall these amended salaries become effective for Councilmembers elected to a term of office but not yet serving such term of office, until after the term of office for which they were elected expires For such Councilmembers, their salaries shall remain at amounts specified in Ordinance 2762, Section 1, 1989 2931 Section 1, 1993 Section 2 This ordinance shall take effect five (5) days after passage and publication Charles D Kilbury, Mayor PASSED by the City Council of the City of Pasco at a regular meeting this 5th day of May, 1997 ATTEST Catherine D Seaman, Deputy City Clerk APPROVED AS TO FORM L ik............
