AN ORDINANCE concerning taxi cab drivers, and amending Section 544 070 of the Pasco Municipal Code WHEREAS, the City staff, after checking with the County Health Department and Our Lady of Lourdes Business Health is satisfied that the only communicable disease that need reasonably be tested for to insure the safety of the public utilizing taxi cabs is tuberculosis, and WHEREAS, the requirements for a valid Washington State Drivers License make unnecessary additional physical testing a prerequisite to a taxi cab driver's permit, and WHEREAS, the Chief of Police has stated his belief that repetitious fingerprinting and photographing of applicants for taxi cab positions by the three major local governments is unnecessary and that such information can be shared amongst the local departments, now, therefore, THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF PASCO, WASHINGTON DOES ORDAIN AS FOLLOWS 1. Section 544 070 of the Pasco Municipal Code is hereby amended to read as follows (additions are shown by underlining and deletions by interdelineation) 5 44 070 PERMIT REQUIRED - QUALIFICATIONS - FEE Before a driver shall drive a taxi cab in the City, he shall make application to the City for a permit, a fee of $10 00 shall accompany such application To be eligible for such permit, the applicant must submit to being fingerprinted, photographed and interviewed under the direction of the Chief of Police, and must furnish a statement by a licensed physician or the local health district showing the applicant to be free of tuberculosis, and that he has no physical defects that would render him unsafe to operate a taxi cab 2.
