ORDINANCE NO. 2811
AN ORDINANCE of the City of Pasco establishing a Law
Enforcement Officers and Firefighters Disability Board
pursuant to RCW 41.26.110.
WHEREAS, The City of Pasco has been notified by the United
States Department of Commerce and by the State Office of
Financial Management that its official population is now 20,337;
and
WHEREAS, RCW 41.26.110 requires that each city having a
population of 20,000 or more shall establish a disability board
having jurisdiction over all members employed by said cities;
THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF PASCO, WASHINGTON, DO
ORDAIN AS FOLLOWS:
Section 1. Effective April 15, 1991, there is hereby
created a Law Enforcement Officers and Firefighters Disability
Board under authority of RCW 41.26.110, to herein decide claims
for disability and medical services claims.
Section 2. The board membership shall consist of the
following five members: two members of the city council to be
appointed by the Mayor, one active or retired firefighter to be
elected by the firefighters employed by or retired from the city,
one active or retired law enforcement officer to be elected by
the law enforcement officers employed by or retired from the
city, and one member from the public at large who resides within
the city to be appointed by the other four members heretofore
designated in this section. Retired members who are subject to
the jurisdiction of the board have the right to elect and the
right to be elected under this section.
Section 3. The terms of the members shall be as set
forth in RCW 41.26.110, as it may be amended from time-to-time.
Currently, the terms of both elected and appointed members is a
two-year term.
Section 4. The board shall adopt rules and regulations
which shall enable it to fairly and efficiently carry out its
responsibilities as set forth in the statutes and applicable
administrative regulations.
Section 5. This Ordinance shall take effect five (5) days
after passage and publication.
