HomeMy WebLinkAbout2641 Ordinance\ ORDINANCE NO. 2641 AN ORDINANCE concerning Student Loading Zones and creating new Section 10.52.045 of the Pasco Municipal Code. WHEREAS, in order to provide parents of school-aged children with a place at certain city schools to drop-off and pickup their children with reasonable convenience from their automobiles, it may be necessary at certain schools to create student loading zones where leaving a vehicle unattended by the driver is prohibited, now, therefore, THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF PASCO, WASHINGTON DO ORDAIN AS FOLLOWS: Section 1. New Section 10.52.045 is hereby created, which Section shall read as follows: 10.52.045 STUDENT LOADING ZONES. The city engineer is authorized to approve the placement of signs indicating student loading zones upon either or both sides of any street adjacent to any school property when such a zone would, in his opinion, not seriously interfere with traffic or create a hazardous situation, but such zone is requested by the Pasco School District and is reasonably necessary for the convenience of parents from their automobiles dropping off their children and picking up their children from the school. When signs are erected indicating a student loading zone upon that side of a street adjacent to any school property, no person shall leave the vehicle unattended without the driver, or remain in the designated zone for purposes other than student drop-off or pickup at the adjacent school. The cost of the signs and their placement and maintenance shall be at the sole expense and responsibility of the Pasco School District. No such sign shall be placed without the approval of the city engineer as to its location, design and message. ATT N ELLS, City Clerk AdLoi J. ayor Section 2.
