ORDINANCE NO. 2619
AN ORDINANCE relating business licenses, amending Section
5.04.170 EXEMPTIONS (a) of the Pasco Municipal
Code.
WHEREAS, the business license process in Pasco is used in
part to provide for life safety and other inspections of
buildings prior to their occupancy; and,
WHEREAS, non profit organizations are not presently
required to obtain licenses to operate in Pasco, therefore their
buildings are not inspected for compliance to life safety
standards; and,
WHEREAS, life safety concerns should not be limited to
buildings and organizations operating for profit but extend to
all buildings and their uses within the community; NOW,
THEREFORE,
THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF PASCO DO ORDAIN AS
FOLLOWS:
Section 1. Section 5.04.170 EXEMPTIONS (a) of the Pasco
be and the same is hereby amended to read follows:
Section 5.04.170 Exemptions.(a) Non profit organizations.
Non profit organizations operating without private profit, either
regularly or temporarily, for a public, charitable, educational,
literary, fraternal or religious purpose shall met-be-requred-te
ebtaim--a-iieense apply for a no fee business license and conduct
activities only after the no fee business license has been
issued. This provision shall exempt only the non profit
organizations but not persons sponsored by the non profit
organizations if any private profit whatever is derived from its
operation. Any business conducted where only a part of the
proceeds go to a non profit organization is not exempt from
a business license fee.
Section 2. This ordinance shall take effect five (5)
days after passage and publication.
