HomeMy WebLinkAbout2600 Ordinance1 S ORDINANCE NO. 2600 AN ORDINANCE relating to city service; and amending Pasco Municipal Code Sections 2.42.420, .430, .440, and .450. WHEREAS, certain provisions of the Pasco Municipal Code relating to pay periods, regular pay, hourly rates, and overtime pay are not consistent with existing City policy or with the provisions of the Federal Fair Labor Standards Act to which the City became subject to on April 15, 1986; NOW, THEREFORE, THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF PASCO, WASHINGTON, DO ORDAIN AS FOLLOWS: Section 1. Section 2.42.420 of the Pasco Municipal Code is hereby amended as shown by the underlined additions and deletions by interlineation as follows: 2.42.420 PAY PERIODS. Pay periods, pay days, and the cut-off date for all pay periods shall be set by the City Manager through administrative order. Section 2.42.430 of the Pasco Municipal Code is hereby amended as shown by the additions by underlining and deletions by interlineation as shown below: 2.42.430 REGULAR PAY. The annual minimum and maximum salaries for each position shall be set out in the annual budget of the City. The pay for each position shall be paid to the incumbent in that position for the satisfactory completion of the standard work shift or standard work week. Section 2.42.440 of the Pasco Municipal Code is hereby amended as shown by the additions by underlining and deletions by interlineation as shown below: 2.42.440 HOURLY RATES. An hourly rate for each position will be prepared for and approved by the City Manager. Section 2.42.450 of the Pasco Municipal Code is hereby amended as shown by the additions by underlining and deletions by interlineation as shown below: 2.42.450 OVERTIME. As a general rule, the requirements of frequent and considerable overtime service in any organization or unit shall be considered evidence of understaffing or improper organization and shall be subject to investigation by the City Manager. Overtime work shall include only that work performed by employees at the direction of a department head or his authorized representative, which exceeds standard work schedules and may be compensated for as follows: (I) The overtime rate for each position will be prepared for and must be approved by the City Manager.
