HomeMy WebLinkAbout2589 Ordinance1 ORDINANCE NO. 2589 AN ORDINANCE establishing a 1986 salary schedule for Management Personnel and providing for a merit compensation plan. WHEREAS, the City Manager after discussion and concurrence with a committee of City Council members has recommended that the salary schedule set forth in Exhibit "A" hereto be adopted by the City Council as the 1986 salary schedule for management personnel positions; and WHEREAS, the Council Committee and the City Manager have further agreed that a merit increase plan to be administered by the City Manager be adopted; and WHEREAS, the City Council after discussion agrees that the proposed salary schedule and merit increase plan are appropriate, now, therefore, THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF PASCO, WASHINGTON DO ORDAIN AS FOLLOWS: Section 1. The maximum monthly salaries for City Management positions will be in the amounts set forth in Exhibit "A" attached hereto, which Exhibit is incorporated by reference herein as if fully set forth. The schedule of salaries set forth in Exhibit "A" will be effective as of January 1, 1986 and shall remain effective until this Ordinance is amended or superseded by future Ordinance. The actual salary to be received by an employee occupying a management position shall be determined by the City Manager. Provided, however, where the 1985 monthly salary of an incumbant in any management position exceeds the maximum salary for the position in Exhibit "A", such employee shall continue to be compensated at their 1985 monthly salary rate. Section 2. A merit increase may be granted to a City employee employed in one of the management level positions set forth in Exhibit "A", at the sole discretion of the City Manager within the following guidelines, provided, however, the total of all merit increases for the year 1986 does not exceed $12,000. (a) Any merit increase shall be based totally upon job performance demonstrating effort and achievement above and beyond that regularly expected of the position. (b) Any merit increase awarded shall be for a temporary period of time to be determined by the City Manager, provided, any such merit increase shall expire not later than December 31, 1986. Section 3. For payroll purposes only, the monthly salaries as set forth in Exhibit "A" shall be multiplied by twelve (12) and divided by two thousand and eighty (2,080) (number of hours in work year) to determine an hourly rate of pay. Paychecks shall be computed and paid on this hourly basis. All positions listed on Exhibit "A" are salaried positions. Section 4. This Ordinance shall be effective five (5) days after passage and publication. Section 5. All prior Ordinances, including Ordinance No. 2529, in conflict with the provisons of this Ordinance are rescinded and superseded by this Ordinance.
