AN ORDINANCE relating to driveway development within the City of
Pasco, and amending Title 12 of the Pasco Municipal
Code.
WHEREAS, the City Council has become increasingly
concerned that present regulations are resulting in the
proliferation of commercial driveways along arterial streets, in
such spacing and configuration to create public safety concerns
and unwarranted obstruction to intended arterial traffic flow,
and;
WHEREAS, a more restrictive commercial driveway standard
may not apply uniformly or fairly to all properties along
arterial streets, permitted to develop one or more driveways,
and;
WHEREAS, on April 1, 1985, the City Council conducted a
public hearing to consider the matter and, at the conclusion of
the hearing, determined the amendment stated herein - below to be
a fair and reasonable method for providing for safe and necessary
public access to private properties and maintaining reasonably
unobstructive arterial traffic flow; NOW THEREFORE
THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF PASCO DOES ORDAIN AS
FOLLOWS:
Section 1. That PMC Section 12.04.120 is hereby amended
to read as follows:
12.04.120 NUMBER OF DRIVEWAYS PER LOT. Fer-etteh

A. One private driveway, not exceeding twenty
feet in width, shall be permitted for each fifty
feet of continuous frontage upon a street or avenue
in the residential zone.
B. For each fifty feet of continuous frontage
upon a street or avenue, one service driveway, not
exceeding thirty feet in width, shall be permitted;
except, that if the street or avenue is an
arterial or collector street, the Community
Development Director shall have the administrative
authority to modify the number or location of
service driveways, prior to issuance of a building
permit, as deemed necessary to insure safety to
pedestrian users of the public ways, to preclude
hazardous or congestive traffic movements, maintain
desirable traffic flow along the arterial corridor,
or any other reason related to public safety.
The decision of the Community Development Director
is final unless appealed to the City Council, in
writing and stating the reasons thereof, within ten
days of the Director's decision.

Section 2. This Ordinance shall be in full force and
effect after its passage and publication as required by law.
