II. Approval of Previous Meeting Minutes:
Minutes Approving: 12/3/2015 Motion: Edmon Daniels
Second: Arthur Job Approval Vote: Unanimous
a. Election of Chairperson:
Edmon moved to nominated Tom as Chairperson. Seconded. Approved
unanimously.
III. Staff Reports
a. Recreation Highlights
i. Lampson Cable Bridge Run: 2015 Registrants – 1784
ii. Adult Volleyball: 18 teams, up two teams over last year. Average drop–in
attendance is 28 people, same as last year.
iii. Adult Basketball: 8 women's teams & 32 men's teams, same as 2015
iv. Youth Basketball: 417 players, up 47 over 2015
v. Elementary school advertising using their new online flyer distribution
system Peachjar. This year is test run where we will evaluate its effectiveness.
vi. Recreation now has a New Facebook page. Emails were sent out to 9,700
people in our database urging them to follow us on Facebook or to sign up to
receive our NewsFlash if they don’t have Facebook.
vii. The Recreation Calendar on city website is now active and populated with
upcoming events from our Rec programs Jan-Apr
viii. Cultural Resource Survey is underway for the Highland Park field lights
project.
ix. Getting bids for updating the speaker system at Memorial Pool. Also working
on Digital signage for the pool.
x. Moms and Sons Night is Friday, February 19.
b. Senior Center Highlights
i. We are in full swing with getting the Volunteer Reception planned – Date
is Tuesday April 12 and will be catered by Dickey’s BBQ
ii. Planning is underway for the Grand Old 4th of July – Hapo Community
Credit Union has again agreed to sponsor the Parade
iii. Planning is underway for the All Senior Picnic – Have already secured the
Main sponsor: Pacific Crest Planning. The date of the picnic is Thursday
September 15th at TRAC
iv. A new Sponsorship Brochure is being designed to help promote and highlight
available programs for sponsorship.
c. Park Maintenance Highlights
i. Personnel Activity
1. Attended Monthly Safety Meetings
ii. Staff attended pesticide training
1. Arborculturist received CDL
2. DOT trailer training
iii. Park & Facility Projects
1. Prune shrubs at City Hall, PW and Bus/Train
2. Serviced building generators
3. Installed new lighting at Softball Complex
4. Installed 4 new basketball hoops at Kurtzman
5. Repaired equipment
6. Inventoried all drywells
7. Burned tumbleweeds
8. Pruned trees on boulevards
iv. Cemetery
1. Funerals: 4 burials, 1 cremains
2. $21,431.23 in services for the month
3. Continued with new reporting updates
v. Special Events
1. Police Training Center gym floor painted
2. Continued meeting with Lourdes with partnership in exercise equipment
3. Met with Lourdes to plan for 100th Anniversary
d. Report and Updates from Rick Terway
i. Project Updates
1. Discussed Alcohol Sales at GESA Stadium during July 4th Fireworks
2. Discussed proposed ‘Grand Bargain’ Pasco Aquatics Center, Kennewick
Convention Center and Richland Farmers Market
3. Noted City is still working with DPDA to keep downtown events going
4. Reported 2 Pasco Community Forums are being held in February
