III. Staff Reports
a. Report and Updates from Rick Terway
i. Project Updates
1. Park at Rd 60 and Three Rivers: Sod is planted, waiting on installation of
playgrounds and fall protection until warm weather returns.
2. Kurtzman Park: Playgrounds have been installed but need warm weather
before pour-in-place fall protection can be installed.
3. Peanuts Park: The 2016 year will see heavy planning for the remodel of
Peanuts Park.
4. Community Center: Will not move forward much until the sale of the
Senior Center is finalized.
5. 3-wide Modular Building: Permits and bids are being obtained and the
building should be getting moved within the next month or two. Meals on
Wheels are getting some contractors to help with retrofitting the building
for their needs.
ii. Other
1. If current budget passes later this month, Facilities will be receiving a new
facilities maintenance worker.
2. January Meeting: Rick Terway suggested that the January Park Board
meeting be cancelled if the board was in consensus. The board members
were in consensus, so the January Meeting is cancelled.
b. Recreation Highlights
i. Jan-Apr Program Guide - at printers - Available online tomorrow, on shelves -
December 8th
ii. Youth Basketball over 400 kids signed up (Most in at least 5 years)
iii. Adult Basketball League - Full with 32 Teams.
iv. LCBR early registration deadline is Sunday, December 6 - approx 600 signed
up right now
v. Beginning process of the Highland Park Field Lights Project. Working on the
Special Permit, Building Permit, and Design. Spoke with new RCO
Representative today (Alison Greene - from West Richland) will be contacting
me on Tuesday next week to put the agreement in place.
c. Senior Center Highlights
i. Footcare continues to go well
ii. Holding the Friends & Family Holiday performance by the Rolling Hills

1. Attended Monthly Safety Meetings
2. Chief Groundsman attended Playground Inspector training

1. Repaired plumbing at Senior Center
2. City Hall Boiler repair
3. Re-floored Fire Stations 81 and 83
4. Removed 5 trees at WWTP for building expansion
5. Pruned over 100 trees on Sandifur
6. Replace frost free hose bib and pipe going into Chiawana Shop
7. Painted fields for flag football
8. Mulch leaves
9. Low frequency inspections
10. Winterized Gesa Stadium
11. Re-roofed Kurtzman restroom building

1. Prepared Volunteer Park for special event

IV. Council Member Suggestions & Report
a. Tom Davenport: asked if we would move over to the mobile building as soon as it
was ready.
i. Rick clarified that we would not move out of the Senior Center until the sale
of the Senior Center was finalized and we had to move out.
b. Craig Howell: asked about field space for a local Lacrosse program in the months
of March – June.
i. Was told that they could use local neighborhood parks for practices. And that
he should have them contact the recreation office to check on availability at
some of the other facilities for rental for game play.
