II. Approval of Previous Meeting Minutes:

III. Staff Reports
a. Recreation Highlights
i. Spanish Summer Brochure is printed and was inserted in La Voz
ii. Pool - Lifeguard orientation and 2 Rentals this week. Getting ready to
open to public next Tuesday.
iii. Added Programs are in online brochure which include Futsal, Preschool
Hour, and Cheer/Dance for 9-12 year olds.
iv. New Special Event: Family Fun and Safety Day – Free Swim sponsored
by Moon Security.
v. Season Pool Passes are available for purchase
vi. Selfies in the Park is going okay, but still not many entries. Staff
encouraged the board to participate and share their photo and experience
via facebook.
vii. Discussed GeoCoin Challenge explaining what it is and that it will take
place June 26-28 with the base event location at Sacajawea State Park.
b. Senior Center Highlights
i. Vince is back to work
ii. Report that ALTC has moved out and no longer has an office at the center.
iii. Washington Relay partnership event went well on June 2.
iv. Update on the Footcare program, donations continue to be up compared to
last year and the number of serviced individuals each month is back up to
last year’s level.
c. Park & Facilities Highlights
i. Attended Monthly Safety Meetings
ii. Burned tumbleweeds
iii. Planted 34 trees in various parks
iv. Prepared pool for the season
v. Prepared for Cinco de Mayo
vi. Prepared the Police Training Center building
vii. Sprayed herbicide in the parks
viii. Fertilized parks
ix. Laid out and painted football fields and soccer fields
x. Planted stock in beds in Cemetery
xi. Applied growth regulator at Cemetery
xii. Applied herbicide at Cemetery
xiii. 4 Funerals, 2 pre-needs
xiv. Arbor Day Event
xv. Boy/Girls Club Planting
IV. Other
a. Informed Park Board about Police Department Groundbreaking and how that will
affect the area surrounding City Hall.
V. Council Member Suggestions & Report
a. Roberto Garcia brought some pictures from the Cinco de Mayo event showing
safety concerns at the parade. Staff mentioned that the event is organized and put
on by the DPDA but will take the photos and bring them to the attention of the
DPDA and City.
