A RESOLUTION regarding the selection by the Washington State Department
of Transportation of the route for interstate highway I-82
from Goose Gap to Plymouth.
WHEREAS, the Washington State Department of Transportation is
considering alternate routes for interstate highway I-82 from Goose
Gap to Plymouth,
WHEREAS, I-82 provides for intercity as well as interstate travel
of vehicles,
WHEREAS, I-82 is important in the circulation of vehicles from
connecting state highways in the Pasco area, .
WHEREAS, Route 3-A has been included in the plan for a number of
years,
WHEREAS, land use planning has been promulgated on the basis of
Route 3-A,
WHEREAS, Route 3-C has recently been proposed,
WHEREAS, Route 3-C is thought to have adverse impacts upon the
land use planning and the travel of vehicles in the Tri -Cities area,
WHEREAS, Route 3-C will necessitate the development of an additional
major highway corridor,
WHEREAS, it appears that Route 3-C will be more expensive to
construct and will require maintenance of two highways in separate
corridors, and
WHEREAS, Route 3-A will result in a better and more efficient
circulation of traffic affecting Pasco; NOW, THEREFORE,
BE IT.RESOLVED BY THE COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF PASCO:
That Route 3-A be selected as the path for interstate highway
I-82 from Goose Gap to Plymouth.
PASSED by the City Council of the City of Pasco this 2 day
of October 1978.

Sir:
The City Council of the City of Pasco requests to go on record as
strongly supporting alignment 3A along SR 14 for I-82 south of Kennewick
and strongly opposing the other alignment proposed by the Department of .
Transportation study team.
It is opinion that the 3A configuration is the most beneficial to the
i Pasco/Kennewick' portion of the Tri -Cities urban area.
Our Council's position is embodied in the attached resolution adopted on
October 2, 1978.
