A RESOLUTION Supporting the Continuation of the Funding of the Municipal
Research Council so as to continue the Municipal Research and Services Center.
W H E R EA S , the City of Pasco has received inestimable service from the
Municipal Research and Services Center through the years on a broad range of
municipal concerns; and
WHEREAS , the City of .Pasco has found this assistance to be of great
value in the development of program planning and in the establishment of
municipal policies; and
WHEREAS , the research and service program is funded from a portion of
the cities share of the Motor Vehicle Excise tax and does not come from revenues
ordinarily going to support state government and, therefore, is not a cost to state
government; and
WHEREAS , the discontinuation of this service would work a hardship on
the City of Pasco; NOW, THEREFORE,
THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF PASCO DO RESOLVE AS FOLLOWS:
Section 1. That the House State Government Committee be requested to not
apply the "sunset" legislation against the Municipal Research Council.
Section 2. That the continuation of the Municipal Research and Services
Center is essential for the positive contribution it makes to city government in
helping to resolve problems and to generate ideas for good local government.
