A RESOLUTION of the City of Pasco in support of Benton -Franklin Opportunities
Industrialization Center ROMP Program.
WHEREAS, OIC has gained a reputation for being efficient and effective in
assisting the unemployed and underemployed minorities in becoming competitive in
the world of work, and
WHEREAS, the Benton -Franklin OIC since 1974 has provided facilities and
services to meet the needs of people in Benton and Franklin Counties who need to
be trained to get jobs or to get better jobs, and
WHEREAS, OIC has developed the "Reaching Out for Minority Personnel" cr;
ROMP Program as a means to help prepare qualified minority people for positions in
Fire and Police Departments, and
WHEREAS, the City of Pasco has an ongoing affirmative action committment
towards the employment .of hiJpority personnel; NOW, THEREFORE,
BE IT RESOLVED BY THE COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF PASCO:
Section 1. The City supports and endorses the efforts of the Benton -Franklin
OIC to obtain a federal grant for the establishment of a locally based ROMP program.
Section 2. In the event the ROMP program is established, the City pledges
to utilize the services provided by ROMP to help effectuate its affirmative action goals
for the Fire and Police Departments .
