WHEREAS , for the past ten years , the City of Pasco and the City of Kennewick
have worked together to plan and construct a bridge across the Columbia River between
the two cities; and
WH E R EA S , said bridge is nearing completion and needs a formal name looking
ahead to the planning for its dedication; and
W H E R EA S , Mr. Ed Hendler of Pasco has made a substantial contribution to both
of the named cities for his outstanding devotion and dedication to the bridge project;
NOW, THEREFORE,
BE IT RESOLVED JOINTLY BY THE COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF PASCO AND THE
COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF KENNEWICK:
1, Zhat all previous recognition naming the new bridge under construction are hereby
rescinded,
2. That the new bridge under construction and about to be completed be officially
. designated the "INTER -CITY CABLE BRIDGE".
3. That recognition is hereby given to those many citizens of the two cities
including the Mayors, Councilmen, Managers, Members of the Inter -City Bridge
Committee, Staff, and concerned citizens who have worked together for the past
many years to insure the completion of the "INTER -CITY CABLE BRIDGE".
4. That Mr. Ed Hendler be recognized for his outstanding contribution to both cities
by the installation of a suitable bronze plaque installed at an appropriate place
at each end of the structure, with such plaque to read in this approximate
language: "SPECIAL RECOGNITION TO ED HENDLER FOR MERITORIOUS SERVICE
TO THE CITIZENS OF KENNEWICK AND PASCO FOR MAKING THIS BRIDGE A
REALITY".

day of 1978.
