A RESOLUTION RELATING TO THE CITY OF PASCO'S POLICY FOR
APPOINTING PERSONS TO BOARDS AND COMMISSIONS AND AMENDING
SECTION 1 OF RESOLUTION NO. 1029.
WHEREAS, the Council of the City of Pasco passed Resolution
No. 1029 on April 6, 1976, which outlines the procedure for appointments
to boards and commissions of the City of Pasco, and
WHEREAS, Section 1 of Resolution No. 1029 requires that any
vacancy or consideration for appointment to a board or commission be
publicly announced in the official newspaper of the City of Pasco, and
. WHEREAS, it has been determined by the staff of the City of
Pasco that the public announcements in the official newspaper of the
City of Pasco do not attract persons to apply for vacant positions on
boards or commissions, and
WHEREAS, it is in the best interest of the City of Pasco to
amend Section 1 of Resolution No. 1029 to delete the requirement that
the City publish an announcement of vacant positions on City boards
or commissions; NOW, THEREFORE,
BE IT RESOLVED BY THE COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF PASCO:
That Section 1 of Resolution No. 1029 be and the same is
hereby amended to read as follows:
and
Section 1. ANNOUNCEMENT OF VACANCY OR CONSIDERATION FOR
REAPPOINTMENT:
At such time as a vacancy occurs or 90 days prior to the
expiration of a term of office currently filled on board
or commission unless otherwise specifically provided by
law for the particular board or commission, it shall be
the policy of the City Council to:
(1) Establish a 60 day filing period for:
A. Interested residents of the community not currently
a member of an advisory board or commission to submit
an application and resume for consideration of appointment,
or
B. Current members of an advisory board or commission
whose terms shall expire within 90 days to submit an
application for consideration for reappointment,
That the remaining provisions of Resolution No. 1029 remain in
full force and effect. Section 2 through and including 6 of said
Resolution No. 1029 are by this reference incorporated herein as
though fully set forth herewith.
